On the local elections

The local elections results are really just a travesty. Even though it might be nice to see the coalition get a bloody nose, it really demonstrates that people vote in local elections on national issues in a way that makes no sense. It's also horrifying to see how quick people have been to flock back to a Labour Party which remains almost identical to the coalition. Of course, there is simply no sensible way to vote. Voting is really a nonsense – the complexity of electoral systems and political outcomes vis-à-vis the knowledge base of the public make it an exercise in stupidity, specifically the arrogant stupidity of people who have been systematically encouraged to know vastly more than they really possibly could. Voting is for idiots. Of course, this is not a fact lost on most of the public, who realise that local elections are futile and pointless, where they realise that they happen at all. So, yes, meaningless bollocks, puffed up by a stupid political media who are the counterparts of a stupid political system, a fourth estate indeed. There's a certain functionality to this procedure within a functional system, which is to assure a turnover of politicians that prevents corruption etc.
